Gresham High School principal resigns after critical season of safety concerns [Video]

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – Gresham High School’s principal has resigned following recent events that led the school’s community to question the safety of their students.

The Gresham-Barlow School District announced Principal Erika Beddoe Whitlock’s departure from the school Wednesday afternoon, thanking her for “her service and dedication.” Her last day will be Nov. 8.

“Over the past three years, Principal Whitlock has worked with care and professionalism to make strides in supporting students during her tenure,” Superintendent James Hiu said. “We will work closely with her during the transition period to ensure that the school — and its students, families, and staff  — can heal and thrive.”

Gresham will be searching for their fifth principal in 10 years.
