PEORIA COUNTY (25News Now) – Illinois American Water customers could see discoloration in their water due to the annual maintenance program.
The company started the project on Oct. 20. It will include testing and flushing fire hydrants, which could lead to a temporary water change. Customers may experience a temporary drop in water pressure and may have some discolored water for a short period.
The water agency recommended customers refrain from doing laundry if they see discoloration, and to let their cold water run briefly, as it should clear up on its own.
Customers may experience a noticeable chlorine taste, but the agency said it should have no cause for concern. This annual maintenance will happen across different towns in Peoria County for the next three weeks.
