People flock to Milledgeville for breast cancer screenings [Video]

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. — Atrium Health Navicent Baldwin teamed up with the Kay Yow Cancer Fund and the Georgia Alliance for Breast Cancer to host an event targeted at defeating breast cancer.

The trio held a “mammogram marathon” on Saturday at the Breast Imaging Center in Milledgeville. They screened over 50 woman at the event all for free.

The “Mammomarathon” was part of a two day event honoring and celebrating the legacy of former WNBA player and Milledgeville native Tasha Butts. Butts, who played for the Minnesota Lynx, was an assistant coach for Georgia Tech and LSU before accepting a job as Georgetown’s head coach. She passed away from a two-year battle with breast cancer on Oct. 23, 2023.
