More security added to Fitch, NFA football game [Video]

GROTON, CT (WFSB) – Additional security has been added to a high school football game in Groton, a day after it was postponed over safety concerns.

The game between Norwich Free Academy and Fitch High School was scheduled for 6 p.m. on Thursday. It was moved to Friday afternoon.

Groton Town police said that on Thursday around 1:45 p.m., they received information from NFA security about concerns for the game.

Later in the afternoon, police said social media posts led to the schools postponing the game.

It appeared that the social media posts were made by people who were not associated with Fitch High School or the game, police noted.

However, police said the postponement was done out of an abundance of caution.
