MINERAL WELLS, W.Va. (WTAP) – Wood County Schools has hired National School Safety and Security Services, a Cleveland-based firm that specializes in school-specific security.
The consultancy firm is assessing school security measures across the district and will provide recommendations for improvement to school officials.
National School Safety and Security Services President Ken Trump explained how their process works.
“Before we come in, we look at what’s on paper,” Trump said. “Then we talk to people in the district office and then come to the building. So, our job is to look for any types of disconnects between policy, paper and practice to make sure that things are aligned. What their procedures say they’re doing, are people doing those things? Or do you need to change the procedure?”
Trump said improving security in schools isn’t always about technological solutions like metal detectors and surveillance.
