Early voting starts Wednesday in Iowa, with a shorter window to mail or cast in-person ballots than in the most recent presidential elections. As of Tuesday, just 5,700 Woodbury County voters had requested absentee ballots, County Auditor Pat Gill said. A fraction of early numbers during the 2016 and 2020 elections. 

As early voting kicked off in Iowa Wednesday, 1,020 voters in Woodbury County cast in-person ballots.

In his bid for a second term in the Iowa House, Republican Rep. Zach Dieken of rural Granville faces a challenge from Michael Schnoes, a no party candidate from Sutherland.
