tnAchieves still needs dozens of volunteers to help prepare students for college [Video]

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) – tnAchieves is still searching for 950 volunteers across Tennessee to help a small group of high school seniors prepare for college.

Of those 950 volunteers, dozens of them are needed in East Tennessee, including in the following counties:

• Anderson County – 5 mentors
• Blount County – 30 mentors
• Hamblen County – 4 mentors
• Knox County – 40 mentors
• Monroe County – 7 mentors
• Sevier County – 2 mentors

Officials with tnAchieves said mentors provide a critical link between students and their community.

“tnAchieves mentoring offers the opportunity to make an impact that goes beyond an individual student,” tnAchieves Vice President of External Partnerships Tyler Ford said. “Mentors play an important part in ensuring that first-generation, low-income students have the support necessary to begin their college careers. In doing so, mentors break down barriers for students and open doors to high-paying, in-demand careers.”
