Officials with the Anchorage school district are looking for opinions and feedback as they explore adjusting the high school class schedule.
The Academies of Anchorage are looking to provide additional opportunities for students to earn credits through courses of their choice.
How?
Well, the current six-period schedule would have to be adjusted to either a seven or eight-period schedule.
According to the district, additional elective credits will for one, give students more access to career-themed courses.
Officials say this change would also provide more opportunities for academic support where it is needed and offer extra collaboration time for educators.
In addition, the school district says this schedule adjustment is part of an effort to ensure students are college, career, and life-ready upon graduation.
