SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) – On Saturday, the Third Baptist Church held a homecoming weekend to bring the community together.
This year marks the 155th anniversary that the first ever black Baptist church for the city of Springfield held a homecoming weekend.
Pastor Taylor Lancaster said that with everything going on in the world, this event is extremely important to give thanks to God.
“To Springfield, it is number one that Baptist church exists and has always existed as a place of service and worship for the community,” he said. “We have been a site of justice and we will continue to be a site of justice and more so for churches and faith communities all around the world, to just know that you are more needed than ever.”
