SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) – C.R.E.W. Inc. hosted their second annual gala in Springfield on Friday.
C.R.E.W., which stands for “Collectively Recognizing Empowerment Within,” is a group of African American men who believe that education, culture, career exploration, community service, and development are all key to a healthy community.
Western Mass News spoke with Alesia Days, a community service honoree at the gala.
“I was born and raised in Springfield, Massachusetts, went to the public schools, all of my nurturing and upbringing has been here, so it’s a full circle for me. This moment is really full circle in that the community I’ve given to is now giving back to me, and I’m extremely humbled by that,” she shared.
The gala began at 6 p.m. and is slated to last until midnight.
