SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) – Stand Together Springfield, a public event hosted by the Have Faith Initiative, a collaborative with Community Partnership of the Ozarks, and Springfield PD took place to celebrate Faith and Blue Weekend Friday evening.
The goal of Faith and Blue is to promote safer and stronger communities by engaging law enforcement officers and local residents through the connections of faith-based organizations.
“Coming together like this is the beginning of breaking down those barriers that have certainly been erected over the many decades, but it’s got to start somewhere,” said T. J. Appleby, pastor at Sanctuary of Praise Church of God in Christ.
11 different religious groups spoke at the event, and many other groups within the Interfaith Choir led the way in song.
