TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) – The Wabash Valley Community Foundation awarded nearly $130,000 in community grants.

The award ceremony was held at the Terre Haute Convention Center Thursday afternoon.

Wabash Valley Community Foundation awards grants to 10 local nonprofits

The money was split among 10 Vigo County nonprofits.

  1. YMCA of the Wabash Valley – $20,000
  2. CANDLES Holocaust Museum & Education Center – $25,000
  3. Down Syndrome Indiana – $4,500
  4. Hendricks County Child Advocacy Center (Susie’s Place) – $8,725
  5. Sheldon Swope Art Museum – $15,000
  6. Team of Mercy – $15,000
  7. Terre Haute Area Meals on Wheels – $6,000
  8. Vigo County Commissioners – $5,000
  9. Terre Haute South Touchdown Football Booster Club – $5,500
  10. Vigo County Education Foundation – $25,000

At the event, the Community Foundation also announced that Lilly Endowment’s GIFT Initiative will be matching $2 for each $1 donated to current and future community grants from the foundation until funding runs out.
