Latest SARS scam is mighty convincing [Video]

• With the tax filing deadline looming, scammers are using the SARS brand to rob folks.
• Targets are told they either owe money or money is owed to them.
• The scam attempts to convince taxpayers to click a phishing link or outright pay the scammer under the pretence that they are SARS.

It’s currently tax season with filings needing to be submitted by 21st October for South Africans. While some folks may enjoy refunds should they have overpaid, there are instances where South Africans have to pay the tax collector more.

A new scam has emerged where attackers leverage both sides of that transaction either promising targets refunds or demanding payment. Of course, engaging with either version of this scam will end in tears and drained accounts for you.
