Retirement home gives back to firefighters and EMS workers [Video]

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) – Residents of the Immanuel Grand Lodge, near 80th and Pioneers, often witness firsthand dedication of the firefighters and medics who regularly assist their community. So, they wanted to find a way to say thank you.

“They are in our building, frequently helping with residents who fall in, residents who have a medical emergency and sometimes there’s a problem with the building,” said Jen Davidson, resident at Immanuel Grand Lodge. “So I began thinking about this, we ought to do something to say thank you.“

Just five weeks ago, the residents began collecting $20 gift cards, gathering 78 in total, amounting to over $1,500.

The gift cards were given to Fire Station 12, the local station, and Stations 6 and 7 for the EMS workers there.
