The group has flown supplies into Asheville, North Carolina, and will have another stop in south Georgia later this week.
One of the pilots coordinating the efforts is Brad Hatcher. Hatcher and several other pilots, out of Butts County, Georgia, and surrounding areas, have been using their personal airplanes to fly supplies to areas devastated by Helene.
Over the last week, they have flown supplies into Asheville, North Carolina and south Georgia. In a social media post, Hatcher said he has flown more than 26 hours in four days — coordinating eight airplanes to Asheville.
“It has been an experience I will remember for the rest of my life. There is still a lot of good people in this world, and I experienced that this week. I also experienced broken up communities that will slowly recover from the disaster,” Hatcher wrote.
