WESTFIELD, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) – The annual “Buddy Walk” of Western Massachusetts took place on Saturday morning.
It’s a national event to support individuals with down syndrome and their families.
Hundreds of people gathered for fun-filled, family-friendly celebration at Stanley park.
Western Mass News spoke with Joyce Leckey, the President of the Down Syndrome Resource Group in Western Massachusetts, who told us more about the importance of the “Buddy Walk.”
“This is so important for people with down syndrome for many reasons: It allows us to raise funds for the programs that we offer to the community, the first call program, social events, trainings for individuals and families,” expressed Leckey.
So far over $32,000 has been raised for the Down Syndrome Resource Group.
