President Joe Biden has warned the November election may not be peaceful – and is blaming incendiary 2020 comments by Donald Trump.
Biden didn’t betray any extra planning for that eventuality, but he did point to recent comments by Trump running mate J.D. Vance when he declined to say directly that Trump lost the election.
His dark warning came during a surprise press conference in the White House briefing room, after Biden took questions from reporters after touting new economic data showing 254,000 job gains in September.
He was asked whether he was confident the election would be free and fair and whether it would be peaceful.
Biden said those were ‘two separate questions.’
‘I’m confident it will be free and fair. I don’t know whether it’ll be peaceful,’ he responded.
