NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) – Dozens of community members, organizations and entities in the Lowcountry are coming together to support victims of Hurricane Helene.
On Thursday that included Holy City Brewing, where employees spent the morning canning water instead of brew to send to North Carolina.
Holy City Brewing Owner and Production Manager Chris Bown says they’ve never done anything on a scale like this, but they are practiced at putting liquid in a can and this was an opportunity for them to contribute to relief efforts.
The idea to can water came from Firefly across the street from the brewery and Brown and his crew made it happen.
250 cases of water are heading to a church in Tryon, North Carolina that will be a distribution hub for those in need.
Brown hopes the water can help people in a small way.
