TRYON, N.C. (WBTV) – As the devastation caused by Hurricane Helene continues to unfold, communities across the Carolinas are rallying together to support those affected.
One example can be found in the heart of Tryon, where the town hall has been transformed into a central hub for disaster relief efforts.
“We have so much water, and then we have FEMA water out here,” said one volunteer, describing the constant flow of donations. “Truckloads come and just donate stuff.”
The town of Tryon was hit particularly hard by the hurricane, with an entire section of the town submerged underwater.
“I’ve lived in there for 33 years. This is the worst I’ve ever seen,” said Town Manager Jim Fatland.
