CCPD celebrates National Night Out [Video]

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — National Night Out was celebrated across the nation, and right here at home on Tuesday.

The Corpus Christi Police Department held their kickoff event at Academy Sports and Outdoors, then officers went out to neighborhoods throughout the city to promote safety and strengthen their relationship with community members.

“The neighborhood and the police stand together and show that they’re standing up for crime and taking back their neighborhoods,” Lt. Kody Harrison said. “We have a great relationship within our community and we’re always grateful any time we get to do stuff within our community.”

The event also helped to grow the city’s Neighborhood Watch program.

Harrison said each year they’re able to answer questions about the program and get people more involved in protecting and looking out for one another.
