FEMA Delivers Truckloads of Food and Water to NC Post Helene [Video]

The federal government is delivering truckloads of supplies to North Carolina residents affected by Hurricane Helene, officials reported on Monday.

As of September 30, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is providing 40 truckloads of water and 20 truckloads of food daily to assist with ongoing recovery efforts across the state. The storm, which struck late Thursday, September 26, and early Friday, September 27, brought heavy rain and strong winds, exacerbating flooding in already vulnerable areas, particularly in the mountains and foothills.

Many communities are still grappling with significant damage, including washed-away homes and roads, while residents face shortages of essential resources such as power, clean water, food, cellular service, and medicine. On Monday, FEMA coordinated with Buncombe County, home to Asheville, to assess the response efforts and identify areas where federal support is needed.
