ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) – The Bureau of Land Management Anchorage District Office joined BLM offices across the country Saturday in celebrating National Public Lands Day.
Volunteers gathered at the Campbell Creek Science Center at 8:30 a.m. to help with trail maintenance, tidying up trailheads, winterizing native plant gardens and other tasks around Campbell Tract and the Campbell Creek Science Center. More than 150 similar BLM events took place across the country as part of the 30th annual celebration of public lands.
“It feels good. Honestly, I want to do more of it,” said volunteer Seth Ferguson. “Just seeing all the people here just super passionate about it, just made me more motivated to get out there and help out. It was fun. It was a really good time.”
There were four project crews in total at Campbell Tract with volunteers of all ages and several BLM employees organizing the event.
