The Blount County Emergency Management Agency and local business owners are keeping a close eye on the forecast, preparing for flooding.
BLOUNT COUNTY, Tenn. — With rain pouring down across the region, the Blount County Emergency Management Agency is preparing for potential flooding. Lance Coleman, the agency’s director, said the community is prepared for rain to continue through the rest of the week.
“We’re looking at a lot of rain here for the next two days,” he said. “Our priorities are life preservation, stabilizing the situation, and protecting property in any emergency we might face.”
Business owners in Townsend are closely monitoring the weather and water levels in Little River, staying prepared in case they rise too high.
“This storm is bringing a lot of rain, and with the mountains, flash flooding can happen quickly,” said David Black, general manager of Townsend Abbey and The Little River Campground.
