NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — The Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD) announced a RePublic High School student was arrested Wednesday afternoon in connection with social media threats.
In a press release on Wednesday, Sept. 25, MNPD said that the Rapid School Safety Team took a ninth grade student into custody following Instagram threats to both RePublic High and Whites Creek High School within the last 24 hours.

MNPD added that the student, identified only as a 15-year-old, was charged with making a threat of mass violence and false reporting.
“Threats against schools, special events and businesses are taken very seriously by the MNPD,” officials said. “Those responsible, once identified, will be prosecuted.”

This news comes after another Whites Creek High student was arrested on Tuesday, Sept. 24 for reportedly telling administrators that he would “blow the school up.”
