BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – The National Alliance on Mental Illness, NAMI, is an organization dedicated to building better lives for the millions of Americans affected by mental illness. The Louisiana chapter is holding a fundraiser this September.
NAMIWalks Louisiana is hoping to bring the community together to help reduce the stigma associated with mental illness. The funds raised help keep vital programs throughout the state for those with mental health conditions and their loved ones.
“All the NAMI programs that are offered throughout Louisiana are free to join so no one has to worry about any sort of insurance, Medicaid fees, membership fees or anything like that,” said Mary Alice Cash, state programs and advocacy director.
She said anyone can join, adding that people don’t have to be diagnosed with a mental health condition.
