Mayfield Heights man killed in Beachwood crash [Video]

BEACHWOOD, Ohio — An investigation is underway after a fatal three-car crash in Beachwood involving a tractor-trailer.  

According to officials, the crash happened on Sunday, Sept. 22, at around 10:50 p.m. on I-271 South between Chagrin Boulevard and Harvard Road. 

“There was an initial motor vehicle crash in the local lanes of I-271. One of the vehicles involved then traveled into the express lanes of I-271, colliding with a tractor-trailer,” said Beachwood police in a press release. 

Following the crash, a 40-year-old Mayfield Heights man was taken to a hospital with injuries, but later died. 

Police noted that two other drivers were treated and released at the scene. 

At this time, the crash is under investigation by the Eastside Departments Group Enforcement (EDGE) Accident Investigation Unit.
