As Burlington city leaders continue working to address downtown public safety, one item up for discussion during Monday night’s city council meeting is a proposal for a new downtown public safety hub. While no official plans have been drawn up, councilors who proposed the idea said the main priority would be staffing the hub with local law enforcement and first responders. City leaders in favor of the public safety hub proposal said they hope if people see more police and first responders around downtown Burlington, it will deter some from committing crimes in the area and add a sense of security for visitors.
