BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — The Birmingham Police Department held. a press conference Sunday morning after four people were killed, and 17 others were injured in a mass shooting in Five Points South on Saturday night.
Officer Truman Fitzgerald with the BPD stated the preliminary investigation shows that “multiple” suspects fired on a large group of people who were in an outside public area in the 2000 block of Magnolia Avenue. Police were dispatched to the area just after 11 p.m. on report of shots fired.
Two men and one woman were pronounced dead at the scene on the sidewalk who had been suffering from gunshot wounds. Another man was pronounced dead at UAB Hospital.
Tuscaloosa homicide investigation underway
The 17 other wounded victims, which includes men and women, sustained injuries varying from not life-threatening to life-threatening. BPD detectives think the shooting was not random and believe victims were caught in the crossfire. …
