Woman Left With No Family, Then Deceased Mom’s Old Boyfriend Steps Up [Video]

A woman’s story of how she was adopted by her deceased mom’s boyfriend when she was 37 has gone viral on social media.

Lynn Lafferty lost her father in 1980 to meningitis when she was very young, then her mother remarried less than a year later to a man named Steve, according to a TikTok slideshow.

“Steve came into my life while I was still in diapers. I was a little over a year old when mom met him,” Lafferty, 43, told Newsweek. She said he never legally adopted her or her brother because of her mother’s wishes.

“They had a marriage of convenience because my mom was a young widow who dropped out of high school. She loved him but she was never in love,” she said.
