KATIE KEANE says education is important to her and the Athlone Town keeper has done some impressive learning on the job on the pitch.
The 18-year-old has entered her Leaving Cert year at Dunshaughlin Community College.
And she returned to class with better summer stories than most having played for Ireland in the Under-19 European Championships in Lithuania last July.
She kept a clean sheet as the young Girls in Green held Spain in their opener.
They took the lead against Germany in their second game but lost 2-1 and exited the competition with a 2-0 defeat to Holland.
The experience brought a mixture of pride and frustration.
