Lafayette Parish School System says recent shooting threat originated out-of-state [Video]

LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) — After a recent social media post circulated online about a possible school shooting in Lafayette Parish, the Lafayette Parish School System worked with local law enforcement to figure out where the post came from.

Tracy Wirtz, LPSS communications and public relations specialist, said the school system notified parents this morning that the matter is being investigated. With the help from local law enforcement agencies, the school system determined that the post originated out-of-state and poses no threat to Lafayette Parish Schools.

Wirtz said someone in the Southside community brought the alleged threat to the attention of the school system.
