DOW teaches students water sustainability with Make a Splash | News [Video]

LIHUE, Hawaii (Island News) — The Department of Water (DOW) hosted its 19th Make a Splash with Project WET festival for fifth grade students on Friday, Sept. 20, 2024.

The DOW’s largest student outreach ever welcomed 787 fifth grade students at the Vidinha Stadium Soccer Field in Lihue. Each year, the Make a Splash festival unites parents, students, teachers, government resource agencies, community volunteers and businesses to educate students about how water is a precious resource.

Jonell Kaohelauli’i, Project WET state coordinator and DOW’s Information and Education Specialist shared the significance of the festival, “The Make a Splash festival demonstrates the importance of education and our commitment to promote the value of water in our communities.
