Two youths were arrested in connection to one threat targeting the Meriden middle schools, while a separate threat remains under investigation.

MERIDEN, Conn. — Two youths were arrested for allegedly posting threats targeting Meriden schools on social media recently. As a result of the threads, there will be an extra police presence at Meriden’s middle schools on Friday, according to school officials.

Meriden police investigated two separate instances of possible school threats after Meriden school officials reported them to the police.

The threats were posted on Facebook and Snapchat. One of the threats led to two Meriden youths being arrested. Police identified another Meriden youth connected to the second threat and the investigation into that case is ongoing.

Police said the youths reposted one of the many social media posts that have been circulating online all over Connecticut and even multiple parts of the country.
