TULSA, Okla. — Tulsa Community College (TCC) Metro Campus held a “Chalk the Walk” event on Thursday to raise awareness about Alzheimer’s disease and the upcoming Walk to End Alzheimer’s.

FOX23 spoke with Alicia McKay, Associate Professor of Psychology at TCC’s Metro Campus.

She the upcoming Walk to End Alzheimer’s is at Dream Keepers Park on Saturday.

McKay said they wanted to not only raise awareness about Alzheimer’s with the chalk drawings around the campus, but also encourage students, faculty and staff to participate in the walk.

McKay said this is their first ever Chalk the Walk event.

People were invited to stop and contribute to the chalk art and writings on the sidewalk. They also wrote statistics around the campus regarding Alzheimer’s and other dementia for educational purposes.

The different colors of the chalk represent different connections to Alzheimer’s.
