Schools were closed and a juvenile was arrested Thursday after a threat was made against the Hearne Independent School District.
Hearne police were called to the district around 10 a.m. when a student made alleged threats to commit violence against the school.
“An investigation of the threat led to the arrest of the juvenile male, charged with Terroristic Threat/Public Fear of Serious Bodily Injury, a third-degree felony,” Hearne police said in a press release. “A search warrant was also executed at the juvenile male’s residence where evidence of the threat(s) was collected. The juvenile male will be further detained in a juvenile detention facility.
“As of this morning, the Hearne Police Department is continuing its investigation into the specific threat of violence and working with multiple law enforcement agencies to safeguard the school and verify it is safe for students to return to school.”
