Police arrested a Bryan High School student Wednesday morning for allegedly bringing a handgun to school.
According to reports, Bryan police were called to the school at 11 a.m. after the school resource officer and school administrators discovered that the student possessed a handgun in class.
“The juvenile suspect was placed under arrest and transported to the Brazos County Juvenile Detention Center and booked on charges of Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon in a Prohibited Place and Terroristic Threat,” the police department said in a press release. “This investigation is active and ongoing at this time.”
In a message to parents, principal Lane Buban said the situation was peacefully resolved and that there was no threat to the school.
