Lottie J Farm, situated on eight picturesque acres in Thaxton, overlooking the Peaks of Otter, has become a popular fall destination for families across the region in just five years.
Owner Hollie Porter, along with her husband, John, purchased the property in 2017, initially with no plans to open it to the public. However, through a series of small steps, a childhood dream and a love for animals, they transformed their farm into a thriving spot for community events.
“We bought this property from the Colemans, who had lived here for 50 years,” Porter said. “The house itself was originally built in 1900, so there’s a lot of history here. We never planned to open a farm, but we always knew we wanted animals. I’ve always loved them, and that was a childhood dream of mine, to have a farm with animals.”
