“Shaila, the founder of this nonprofit, is very passionate and sweet. She works as a vet tech, she has a fierce affection for helping dogs find homes. She adopted from a shelter in Texas and became aware of problem of unwanted pet population near the border and how many dogs were being put down. I was impressed that she started this organization as a teenager. Her impact is growing and saving many dogs throughout the few years this has been going. Her team also goes into the schools and helps to educate students on responsible pet management, etc. There are many ways to donate to the cause!”

Founded in 2021 by Shaila Dominguez, Border Paws Dog Rescue was inspired by a personal experience. Shaila’s journey into animal rescue began when she adopted an elderly dog from Texas, a dog that was facing euthanasia.
