LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Roots 101 African American Museum announced Friday that it had removed Dafrai Studio’s art exhibit from their facility.

Roots 101 CEO Lamont Collins told WDRB on Saturday the reason was because Dafrai Studios is owned by Jason Thompson, a registered sex offender.

Thompson pleaded guilty in 2014 to sexually abusing four boys.

“This decision reflects our dedication to maintaining a safe, positive and supportive atmosphere for all guests, partners and the community we serve,” Collins said in a statement online.

Thompson was a Zumba instructor and former Fayette County Public Schools employee. 

According to court documents, in 2012 Thompson was charged with second-degree sodomy and five courts of first-degree sexual abuse. 

The charges were reduced as part of a plea deal. From May to August 2009, a 13-year-old boy lived with Thompson and slept in the same bed as him, court documents say.
