Upton County Sheriff Sara Brown requested MPD on Monday to help with a believed cluster bomb munition two blocks away from a school.
MCCAMEY, Texas — Four Midland Police Department officers responded to a cluster bomb scare in McCamey on Monday due to a request from Upton County Sheriff Sara Brown, according to a City of Midland press release.
MPD received the request from the sheriff around 9:48 a.m. Sheriff Brown was heading to the 300 block of South Crockett due to a believed cluster bomb munition two blocks away from a school.
According to the release, Midland police officials reached out Dyess Air Force Base EOD in Abilene for help. Dyess officials said the believed cluster bomb munition looked like a military munition and that they were going to deploy officials from the base to the site.
