Local leaders weigh in on proposed tax expansion [Video]

COLUMBUS, Ga. (WRBL) —   Vice President Kamala Harris proposed a tax expansion relief plan for small businesses. Friday, local state representatives weighed in on the new plan at a press conference in Columbus.

At Overflo Barbershop, State Representative Teddy Reese and Carolyn Hugley agree the proposed expansion is making entrepreneurs’ first step easier. They explained this proposal will help prevent small businesses from failure in the first five years.

“Having a leader in the White House who has your back makes this fight a little bit easier.” says State Representative Carolyn Hugley.

Representatives say they have seen an increase in new business applications under the Biden-Harris administration.

The Owner of Overflo Barbershop says when he first started his business he had to think about if he could afford to start a business while providing for himself and his family.

State Representative Reese says mega national corporations have been prioritized for too long.
