Governor Holcomb Becomes First U.S. Governor to Visit Ukraine [Video]

STATEWIDE –Indiana Gov. Eric Holcomb became the first U.S. governor to visit Ukraine since Russia’s full-scale invasion began in 2022.

During the visit, Holcomb met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal, and U.S. Ambassador Bridget Brink.

“Indiana’s reach far extends beyond our state borders. Where others may hesitate, Hoosiers step up, especially for friends in need,” Gov. Holcomb said. “Ukrainians have long been known to be resilient, courageous, and innovative. By strengthening our global connections, even during the most challenging of times, our people and their communities can mutually grow and ultimately prosper.”

He also visited the Wall of Remembrance for fallen Ukrainian soldiers. Holcomb signed an agreement with Zhytomyr Oblast to collaborate on education, agriculture, and economic development. The trip was funded by private donations to the Indiana Economic Development Corporation.
