NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — A new development that will feature a water park, hotel and variety of businesses is planned for the lot where Six Flags once was. The property was abandoned after it was deemed to be unsafe from Hurricane Katrina. Since then, developers have pitched several different plans on what to do with the space. All of them reached a dead end, but hopefully not for long.
“We’re expecting to execute a contract probably within this week or next,” Troy Henry, owner of Henry Consulting said.
“The area is very adversely impacted by it physically just sitting dormant for so long,” Dallas Ecclex said. “For everyone in the area, you can see why it has such a detrimental impact.”
