FULLY CUSTOM 1963 Pontiac Tempest “Oddbeast” | Hot Wheels Legends Tour 2024

Bill’s 1963 Pontiac Tempest is a completely custom creation with inspiration from the “Tameless Tiger” drag car of Arnie “The Farmer” Beswick. As fate would have it, Arnie checked out Bill’s Tempest and even wrote a nice note on the dashboard. The Tempest started out as a doner car for a restoration project for Bill’s wife. Once all of the useful parts had been stripped, he couldn’t bring himself to get rid of the car, so he started building it into a pro-street monster. Today, the car makes over 800hp on pump gas with a fully-built supercharged Butler 421 V-8 and a Rossler Transmission. #hotwheels #racecar #pontiac

An ex John Force engineer designed and built the chassis for the Tempest, which features a lift-off body. They designed the body around the Mickey Thompson 33×22 SR Radials, which are the biggest ones Mickey Thompson makes. Bill designed the interior to his exact specifications, and after hunting for the right upholsterer, John from Coverall Custom Upholstery was able to make what Bill had imagined a reality . He had the rear wing custom built so that all of the fasteners were hidden, and Bill had the gutters and other features shaved to give it a sleeker look. Bill designed the interior to his exact specifications, and after hunting for the right upholsterer, John from Cover-All Upholstery was able to make what Bill had imagined a reality. The 1963 Pontiac Tempest is a comfortable ride that Bill is happy to drive around in all day. He never trailers it, as his Tempest was built for the road!

Bill was kind enough to tell us his story while showing “Oddbeast” at the Indianapolis stop for the 2024 Hot Wheels Legends Tour.

The Hot Wheels Legends Tour presented by Mobil 1 is a global phenomenon and back for its seventh year in search of the next Garage of Legends inductee. Celebrating car builders and enthusiasts around the world in their drive to be legendary, this year’s Tour kicks off in Miami with a live event, in partnership with Walmart, on May 11 and will travel across 13 countries.

For 2024, Hot Wheels is leaving no stone unturned in its search for the next Hot Wheels die-cast, with new event stops in Columbia and the United Arab Emirates.
