Construction moving forward on Spartanburg Pet Resource Center [Video]

SPARTANBURG, S.C. (FOX Carolina) – Land clearing for the first pet resource center is underway in Spartanburg. The facility off Southport road will fill a great need in the county—as shelters across the upstate struggle to find space for all the animals in need.

“The majority of people do not want to surrender their pet. They just need some form of assistance,” said Dr. Kim Sanders with Anderson PAWS.

Spartanburg County’s $24 million pet resource facility will include dog and cat kennels, an adoption clinic, exam rooms and more. Dr. Sanders took a major consulting role in the project planning.

“You know, many years ago, we taught people to just bring us all your animals. And that was really a terrible idea. You know, there are usually very few shelter workers and very many animals,” she said.
