Wilkinson Companies announces new Fat Dogs truck stop off I-80 south of Grand Island [Video]

GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KSNB) – There are now two truck stops near the Interstate 80 and Highway 281 intersection south of Grand Island.

In a press release, Wilkinson Companies announced that a new “Fat Dogs” truck and travel site is now open just north of that intersection.

The move comes after the state installed three stoplights to accommodate the expected traffic at the new site. Two of the stoplights are on Highway 281 just north of the interstate. The third is on the westbound off ramp at the 312 exit.

Wilkinson Companies paid for the installation of the stoplights.

In a press release spokesperson Mark Wilkinson said, “Safety and accessibility for traffic was the number one priority for this development.”

Wilkinson Companies operates operates nine gas stations and four hotels in Nebraska. A new ‘Fat Dogs’ truck stop opened recently in Lincoln and they plan to build another just off the interstate near North Platte.
