Boulder names trio of police chief finalists ahead of community forum [Video]

DENVER (KDVR) — Boulder residents will be able to meet the finalists for the city’s police chief Tuesday night during a community forum.

The trio of candidates were announced by City Manager Nuria Rivera-Vandermyde on Aug. 23 following a nationwide search conducted by a consulting group. The city reported that 30 applications were received for the position, which will pay between $181,861 and $246,048.

“The selected candidate for this position will lead the ongoing transformation of our city’s policing approach, which centers holistic problem-solving and community engagement,” Rivera-Vandermyde said in the announcement. “This is a pivotal leadership role for our community.”

During the forum, each finalist will give brief remarks, followed by a moderated question and answer session. The questions were submitted through an online form through noon on Monday. Final interviews for the top candidates will be held on Aug. 27-28.
