Annual Maine Book Fest connects local authors with the community | News [Video]

WATERVILLE — Literature lovers made their way to Head of Falls in downtown Waterville this weekend to take part in the annual Maine Book Fest. 

“I love that it just it snatches you up and takes you into a different world and you kind of just get lost in it,” said attendee Kassidy Sienko. 

That’s the power of reading, a message that authors from across the state aimed to get across at the second annual Maine Book Fest. 

“I’m just glad that other people wanted to see something like this happen and that other people are interested enough to come out and support,” said Event Organizer Maddie Smith.  

Organizers say the purpose is to encourage reading, literacy and education within the Maine community. Smith says she was inspired to spread her love and passion for reading with the community after she started an online bookstore called The Banned Bookstore.
