BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — A school safety panel discussion with EBR Schools Superintendent LaMont Cole, local groups and school district leaders was held Tuesday to figure out how to create safer schools for children.
The panel included local law enforcement, school leaders and community groups. EBR school board member Dadrius Lanus was the panel moderator. He told parents about updated school safety plans, such as parents being at risk of arrest if they start a commotion inside school buildings.
“We’re just going to have a conversation around school safety and hopefully build like this momentum towards having a safe school year,” said Director of Programs and Operations at Safe Hopeful Healthy BR Jazzika Matthews.
Matthews said other goals are to address miscommunication and emphasize working together.
