Rep. Latta looks to chair powerful energy committee [Video]

TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) – Congressman Bob Latta (R-Ohio) of Bowling Green is positioning himself to potentially lead one of the most powerful committees in Congress.

He’s aiming to chair the House Energy and Commerce Committee next year.

It’s the oldest in the House and has the broadest jurisdiction. He says the committee does critical work on technology, cybersecurity, healthcare and energy policy.

He tells 13 Action News his goal as chairman would be to make sure the country leads in energy production across the board.

“We want to make sure we have the power out there that we have to have, that people never have to worry about a black out or brown out because of some situation that might occur,” Rep. Latta said.
